The 25th season celebration for the American Bach Soloists rolls on with a look at Bach's legacy, as Maestro Jeffrey Thomas leads the ABS and choir through several of the composer's motets and choral pieces, along with vocal works by those he influenced, like Mendelssohn, Brahms, Sandström and Nystedt. In fact, contemporary Norwegian composer Knut Nystedt's Immortal Bach is wholly inspired by Bach's sacred song "Komm, süßer Tod, komm, selge Ruh (Come, sweet death, come, blessed rest)," transforming it into a complex and challenging new setting. Though Bach completed well over 300 cantatas over the course of his productive career, he only created six motets. This performance also includes two of these powerful pieces, along with his early cantata, "Out of the depths I call to thee." Gain more insight into the program at the pre-concert lecture, which begins one hour before the performance. Learn More

Wonderful, uplifting, interesting, and divine voices and music! The director is excellent and the women embody grace and beauty in song. My husband and I were overwhelmed and bought 2 of their cd's.
The Christmas selection CD is excellent one.
