Edo de Waart Conducts Saint-Saëns at Davies Symphony Hall

Full Price:
$44.00 - $85.00
Our Price:
$22.00 - $42.50

Former music director Edo de Waart returns to perform with the San Francisco Symphony for the first time since 1997. The evening begins with an introduction to the music of Franz Schreker, an Austrian opera composer whose music combines the stylistic traits of several artistic movements and whose immersive scores are cinematic in their ability to draw the listener into the story. This innovative and once-obscure composer has seen a revival in popularity in recent years. The program also includes Rachmaninoff's sophisticated and modern Fourth Piano Concerto and the thundering Organ Symphony of Camille Saint-Saëns, his last and most dramatic symphonic work. This event was a delight from start to finish! It was the first time we had the pleasure to see the young, highly spirited and very capable James Gaffigan conduct. Wow! is all I can say! We will look forward to his upcoming face on the world symphony screen.

Jeremy Denk is a master who didn't miss a beat and blended seamlessly with our accomplished symphony.

What can you add enthusiastically enough to fault Beethoven's 5th?? A masterpiece.

Thanks Goldstar! Michelle Klurstein

I"ve been to 3 of the summer series of concerts at the San Francisco Symphony and all have been wonderful! My husband and I love the young conductor. If you have the chance run and catch a concert. You'll swoon just like we did!
