ODC/Dance, San Francisco's internationally acclaimed contemporary dance company, presents its spring season with three new works: Breathing Underwater, by ODC Founder and Artistic Director Brenda Way, is a dance for four women set to live music by popular avant cellist and composer Zoe Keating, well known for using a foot-controlled laptop to record layer upon layer of sound. Cut Out Guy, by ODC Co-Artistic Director KT Nelson, is a work for five male dancers featuring music by experimental composer Ben Frost, exploring the relationship between internal and external self. Nelson's Transit, in collaboration with San Francisco bicycle artist Max Chen, is a full-company work celebrating the chaotic pulse of our urban centers. Three additional works round out the season: Raking Light (2002), choreographed by Brenda Way, along with her Part of a Longer Story (2006), choreographed over seven years and set to Mozart's concerto for clarinet and orchestra. ODC Associate Choreographer Kimi Okada's work, I look vacantly at the Pacific...though regret (2011) completes the set. The season is broken into two programs showcasing different performances.

Loved everything - the choreography, the dancers, lighting, music, costumes. Each of the 3 dances were completely different and amazing; the last was beautiful and witty, clever and amusing. Altogether, a fabulous program!

OMG, this is the best dance I've seen in the last year! Go, for sure! My friends and I only saw Program 2, but we hope to see Program 1 tonight. The pieces are varied - one humorous, one wonder of abstraction, one more classical set to Mozart. They were all marvelously choreographed and passionately danced. I say, GO!
