Even though I'm a pianist I don't attend many solo piano concerts since my first love is chamber music. But András Schiff's playing is so phenomenal I determined to hear at least one of his concerts this season. Yesterday's performance of Bach's English Suites was the most amazing solo piano concert I've ever attended, and despite my reluctance, there have been many. Moving, transporting, astounding - there are not enough adjectives in English - or perhaps even Hungarian - to describe yesterday's concert. What a musical wonder we have in András Schiff! Thank you San Francisco Performances and thank you goldstar!
