Veteran comedian Kurt Bodden assumes the role of master motivator Steve Seabrook at The Marsh. In this hilarious parody, which was a hit at the 2012 New York International Fringe Festival, Bodden plays a joyously inane self-help guru who takes you to a safe, nurturing place of empowerment to figure out why you are so disappointing. Steve Seabrook doesn't want you to change, he wants you to blossom into a You that's "Better Than You." A veteran comedian and actor, Bodden has trained in sketch comedy at The Groundlings, warmed up audiences for The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn and performed improv at the Edinburgh Fringe. Written on Jun 07 2010This was a superb solo act, with an interesting and engrossing story, very good acting and well done character-switching.
I stayed interested the entire time, and the moral of the story was weaved in with the comedy, so it never felt preachy.
At the end, nearly the entire audience (the theatre was packed) gave Pidge a well-deserved standing ovation.
The act that precedes this performance ("Memphis on my Mind") was also quite good, especially the character-switching along with the corresponding southern accent-switching.

Pidge Meade's 40 Pounds in 12 Weeks: A Love Story is part of The Marsh's Festival of New Voices 2010.
Meade has appeared from coast to coast in everything from Shakespeare to Sondheim to really bad murder mystery dinner theatre. Favorite Bay Area roles include Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls and the title role in Mrs. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge.
