Simply awful.

This was a wonderful project, and it's too bad the audience didn't seem to be much "into" it. Perhaps people were expecting something else; I don't know. I'm sure we could have been honored with an encore but most folks seemed ready to leave.
Anyway, it was very engaging: "spacy" and "far out" jazz blended improvisational video and electronic sounds with the improvisational music offered up by saxophones, string instruments, electric stand-up base and very powerful drumming/percussion. They reminded me of a modern day "Weather Report". The Rova saxophonist regulars were joined for this project by special guest musicians and a video specialist, including several performers from Europe.
The conflict for me was that I wanted to watch the background videos on the screen at the same time I wanted to close my eyes and drift away. Unfortunately I could not do both simultaneously. In speaking with one of the guest performers afterwards (middle-aged like me), he echoed my thoughts that it could have been the ideal "psychedelic" experience.

Not what we were expecting. Use of images was interesting.
