Members Who Went Said:It's like professional wrestling on skates. It's not quite the roller derby experience we were hoping for. We were thinking it would be all-women and a little faster paced. But, the audience was as, if not more, entertaining than the derby. |

Event HighlightsMore Details About This Event: Roller Derby has its roots in the Transcontinental Roller Derby in 1935, which simulated a cross-country roller skating race between teams of skaters. Over time, this race developed into the modern contact sport of Roller Derby. The San Francisco Bay Bombers are probably the most recognized team of the original Roller Derby franchises. The team name has been around since 1954, and today's San Francisco Bay Bombers are carrying on that legacy. They skate in the original Roller Derby style, fielding women and men skaters on each team alternating on the track. The playing field is a masonite banked track roughly the size of a basketball court, unlike many new leagues that skate on a flat surface.
About Kezar Pavilion: Kezar pavilion was designed by Willis Polk & Company, and is used for high school and college basketball teams, rock concerts and it is the perfect place for a Circus when it is set up as a theatre in the round. |
