There's no better way to explore a city than walking around it, visiting its neighborhoods and seeing the sites while being led by a knowledgeable tour guide. This is especially true of a city like San Francisco, so rich with unique vistas and history. Join San Francisco Journeys for this all-day walking/riding tour tracing San Francisco's transition from an 18th-century mission/pueblo, to a booming 19th-century mining town, to the Queen City of the West, and finally to becoming a modern metropolis of the 21st century.

Get ready to walk alot. Some uphill walking, stairs, all at a medium pace. This tour was advertised to be 6 hours long but we went 7.5 hours. The guide is very knowledgeable. She is like a walking encyclopedia and loves what she does. If you love to walk, you will love this tour.

We've lived in the Bay area (Oakland) for 40 years, and have visited San Francisco many times. But we knew relatively little about the history of San Francisco, and how this relates to the city's current layout and appearance. Monika, our guide, led us through many areas of the downtown and neighboring areas, and, in an interesting and thought-provoking manner helped us understand why modern San Francisco looks the way it does. She is very knowledgeable and articulate, and the tour, though long, is continually interesting and enjoyable. She uses public transportation creatively to expand the areas we can see during the tour's 7+ hours.
Bring your good walking shoes and have a great time!

I fully recommend this tour if you want to get a good overall view of San Francisco. I moved here couple of months ago and haven't had a chance to wonder around much. Now I feel I know my way so much better. In addition to walking around and great stories abot the areas, I got very good tips, where to look for events etc.

Excellent tour!
