It was a pleasant evening's entertainment, but not a great one. Show is too long. A few of the songs were quite good, the rest very so-so. Too many chairs being moved, need to find a way around that. I got the feeling this show could be further developed to become really good - but it's not quite there yet. That said, I think people should see the show.

Lots of fun! Clever lyrics. Very sweet. Cast not terribly stong except for the lead but they were well cast as personalities. And certainly gave it their all. I found it quite enjoyable. We were 4 and one of my friends didn't care for it at all. She left at intermission. Great concept.

First off, props for having a mature cast and not young people made up to look mature. There is a show somewhere in this production. It is too long, too many set changes that add time to the total production time, too many people on stage (the additional characters beyond the 6 key players are mostly not needed), too few good singers, and too few good songs. For us, three songs were stand outs, 2 in the first act and 1 in act two. I wanted to leave at intermission, but we decided to stay, not sure it was the best idea. Editing and better singers would have helped a lot.

i love the mature actors, but i didn't like all the songs. the rap scene song by the actors playing the male gay couple was great. my friend and i both laughed so hard we almost fell out of our seat. i didn't like the theater. it stunk like urine.

Description

Book and lyrics by Mario Cossa
Music by Tyler Flanders

Sex Tapes for Seniors was inspired by a quip over coffee during the summer of 2005 and written in first-draft form by Mario during his travels around the world. What started as a romp about senior sexuality developed into a piece that also focused on relationships, changing roles, and facing mortality.

A staged reading led to a number of revisions and a complete re-scoring. It is now making its premiere as a full-length production.

As the title suggests, the show is a bit bawdy, but not raunchy or graphic. While it is definitely for adults, it is funny, poignant, relevant and sophisticated.
