Buried Child: Sam Shepard's Pulitzer-Winning Family Drama

- Our Price:
- $10.00 - $22.50
Set during the rural economic slowdown of the 1970s, playwright Sam Shepard's universally acclaimed Buried Child resonates as strongly today as it did when it launched Shepard's career in 1978. A Pulitzer winner for drama, Buried Child makes for a fierce, forceful and unforgettable portrayal of the realities of the American Dream. The realistic masterpiece mixes comedy and drama, keen commentary and deep emotion in a squalid farm home occupied by a clan filled with suppressed violence, apparent unhappiness and dark secrets. Kenneth Kelleher directs this San Jose Stage Company production. Learn More

This was a great event. It's an urban scavenger hunt/interactive theater through the streets of San Francisco's North Beach and Chinatown. We had a great time, were thoroughly entertained and loved meeting and interacting with all the characters. We found ourselves gathering up some very interesting props as we made our walk through town (see pic below... I won't give away the details). I definitely recommend this event, especially with a big group of friends. We even hung out with some of the cast afterwards.Written on Oct 26 2008

We had fun doing this - although you really have to be open to the cheesiness of it all! Meeting at Coit Tower was easy - we parked at the garage at the bottom of the hill and took a $5 cab ride up. It wasn't easy to find the check-in person but once we did they introduced us to 3 other people taking the tour. From the start is was dorky - but fun if you're a goofball. The players won't win any Oscars but they were friendly and very in character. We liked having the opp to grab a few drinks along the way and the walk was not bad at all - barely anything uphill and plenty of places to stop and rest if needed. Overall a fun time. Great for a sunny day in the city. I've lived here 10+ years and found places I'd never seen.Written on Mar 30 2010

Description
Shanghai San Francisco, the audience-driven theatrical adventure, is bringing the celebrated San Francisco arts scene into the streets. In this live choose-your-own-adventure, you are the star of the show.
It's not a play, though you will be a player. It's not a tour, though you will be walking. When the performance begins, the audience learns that a San Francisco native has been shanghaied (kidnapped) and are called upon to save her from her fate out at sea. Instead of sitting in a theater, the audience embarks on a two and a half-hour mission through the city, seeking out actors on the streets, in charming native bars and in swanky hideaway restaurants.
Shanghai San Francisco is the only experience of its kind, inviting you to see the city from an entirely new perspective, all the while tasting local food and drink.
Just remember to watch out for the Bowery Hounds roaming the streets, because in Shanghai San Francisco, you could be next....
Created and produced by Joseph Tomasini and Phoebe Lehr.
