It was a cute production, the four actors were quite funny, sometimes they couldn't be heard either due to the piano, ceiling fans whirling or their voices didn't project. Only an hour plus production with no intermission. Staging and props were simple and handmade, like community theater.

The stage and theater was small and intimate, easily general seating of 80 seats. The place was full on a Friday night, at 7:50pm, 2 rows behind us were open then it was filled by 8:05pm. I got my free tix 2 weeks before. Box office opens at 7:30pm, two programs instead of tix waiting for me. Doors open at 7:45pm. Got really hot in the theater, no AC but two oscillating fans, people where fanning themselves. CD's of the songs were being sold after the show. I didn't know they have been in production for 4 years. Cute waiting area of seats outside the basement theater where the box office and drinks sold. Two theaters, one upstairs and one in the basement. One bathroom on the main floor, two women's upstairs. Stairs are steep to go down to the basement and upstairs.
Inside parking only a block away on Sutter, I think around $32.

Intimate venue and minimal sets focus your attention on the four performers who are quite capable in conveying the material. The two or three dialogue skits are a welcome respite from the continual onslaught of songs. Of those songs, half-dozen or so are very strong. The "Holy" Foods and Street Fair ones had me dying with laughter, and the next to last piece, "Opening it Up," was superbly executed.

A revue offers something for everyone, but that generally means no one will like the whole thing. What I considered to be the weaker numbers may well be someone else's favorite. The "revue" is an endangered breed of performance, and this production is a textbook case. But I'm glad I finally saw one of Morrie Bobrow's productions to make up my own mind.

An excellent performance for groups of gals following a shopping excursion, not so much for a date. Definitely not something I'd have paid full hit for. Thank you, Goldstar!

Shopping! The Musical was a very entertaining show. Five of us went, 3 men and 2 women. We didn't tell one of the men what he was seeing until we got there because he doesn't like musicals or shopping. But the show kept us all (even the men) laughing the entire time. It's cast of 4 singers/actors and a pianist accompanist were talented and the lyrics clever. We all left the show in very happy moods!

A wonderful ensemble cast, featuring a series of clever, comical musical vignettes on the topic of shopping. Not a musical in the strictest sense, but a contemporary revue without any discernible storyline, but an underlying theme which is universal.

Most of the sketches hit their targets successfully and are often laugh-out-loud funny. The only flaw I could observe was the lack of electronic amplification which proved to be a disservice to some of the performers during the choral numbers. Perhaps one or two members of the cast could temper the volume just a tad? Otherwise, the tiny "theatre" and minimalist production requires little in the way of fancy props or equipment.

Oh, and the hard-working piano accompanist, Ms. Dwyer, is stunningly beautiful to the point of distraction!

A great evening out for those who do not require the window dressing of the larger, high-priced venues. Have fun!
