Don't miss your chance to see the latest and greatest new work from the Bay Area's hottest up-and-coming playwrights at the 16th annual Best of PlayGround Festival. Each performance of the show, starring and directed by top local talent, features seven short plays in their entirety -- and this year, they've even included two 10-minute musicals as part of the mix. In all, 36 plays were developed as part of the Monday night staged-reading series at Berkeley Rep, and these seven were specially selected to be part of this festival. Stick around after the Sunday night performances for a discussion with the playwrights. VIP tickets include prime priority seating, a glass of wine and a meet-and-greet with the playwrights at intermission. Please see the event description for more information on the lineup. Learn More

A very good production by a thoughtful and talented new group of experienced actors seeking fine plays while endeavoring to find a balance of roles for both men and women. I look forward to all their future projects.Written on Aug 17 2010

There is not one believeable character in this play. The characters are supposed to be involved in the aftermath of a horrendous act of terrorism but they are one-dimensional figures, mouthing what are supposed to be emotions. A competely boring waste of time and money.Written on Aug 17 2010

Description
Show and Tell, by Anthony Clarvoe
One morning, just before show-and-tell time, an instructor in a small suburban grade school leaves her students momentarily to retrieve her autoharp from the faculty lounge. In her absence an unimaginable and catastrophic event occurs. What follows is an intriguing crime scene investigation with a well-travelled forensics team joining with parents and teachers to track down the origin of the disaster.
Show and Tell addresses issues that are both current and timeless. We are asked: what are the events we choose to remember; how do we choose to remember the events; what is our individual responsibility to each other in a crisis; what should the government's response be; how do we deal with survivors' guilt; how do we place blame for such a horrifying event? Amid the forensic team’s routine banter, the grief of the bereaved families, and an unanticipated romance, the teacher is left to answer for herself the question of why she’s still alive.
About the Ticket Supplier: Symmetry Theatre Company
Symmetry's mission is to create professionally produced theatre that will excite, stimulate and challenge their audiences. The plays they choose may never have more male than female roles and in any given show there may never be more male than female Equity contracts. In addition they will choose plays that acknowledge that women's stories are as important as men's and in so doing we will hope to educate the public and the theatre community at large to the need for more balance on the boards.
