A noted jazz vocalist who also ventures into R&B, gospel, classical and pop territory -- and plays a mean piano -- Rachelle Ferrell takes the stage in San Francisco at the incomparable Razz Room. After getting her start as a backup singer for the likes of Lou Rawls and Patti LaBelle in the 1970s, Ferrell has released eight albums, most notably her 2002 recording Live at Montreaux 91-97. Born and raised in Philadelphia and educated at the Berklee College of Music, Ferrell is known for her six-octave voice and skill at songwriting as well as singing.

Smooth Soul at the Rrazz Room With the Dramatics

Full Price:
$50.00
Our Price:
$25.00

Enjoy some classic smooth soul and quiet storm R&B in the sophisticated and intimate setting of the Rrazz Room, one of San Francisco's premiere night clubs. In their early '70s heyday, the Dramatics were an anomaly: a Detroit singing group signed not to their famed hometown label, Motown, but to the legendary Southern soul label Stax/Volt. Their sound, as heard on hit singles like "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get" and "In the Rain," straddles both worlds, combining the Temptations-like silky-smooth harmonies of Motown with the earthiness of Memphis-style soul. Still performing after more than 40 years, the group features veteran member L.J. Reynolds along with Willie Ford, Donald Albert and Winzell Kelly. Learn More

First time seeing Rachelle. What a wonderful spirit she's got! A really joyful night of entertainment. So glad I hit the late show cuz she just kept going and going! And the speediest seating of a big crowd I've seen in a while at the Rrazz too!

Rachelle Ferrell was a lot of fun and very personable, and the venue is cozy! We enjoyed it. Plan to spend $10 per drink for the two drink minimum, plus tip!

What a warm and soulful performer! Her big personality was clearly communicated and her music -- both the singing and the backup instrumentalists -- were very satisfying. As occasionally happens to me, I attend concerts for entertainers I've never heard before and feel a little like an outsider among all the dedicated and longstanding fans. But this concert was easy: not a lot of songs and lots of banter between them. Very cool.

Amazing, free-wheeling performance. She was having as much fun as her audience and her backup musicians were fantastic too.
