Wonderful seats! The ballet is great fun, although the "New Orleans Christmas" theme, which seemed to be the dominant one, didn't do that much for me. Some of the numbers seemed to lack the crisp creativity that characterized Smuin's productions, but the dancers threw themselves into each number and their enthusiasm was infectious. Nice that you can take drinks into the house now.

I've been going to see Smuin's "The Christmas Ballet" for years and I've never been disappointed. Great holiday tradition.

I loved the show - the dancing was great - so was the costuming - and the variations - ballet, tap, and the themes - Irish, Jewish, Christmas etc.

The only negative was we were in a box seat which was extremely hard and uncomfortable but at intermission we were able to change to a regular padded seat!!

It was really nice to enjoy the Christmas spirit. We were more impressed with the second part than the classic first ACT. We will be back.

Description

The Bay Area’s hottest holiday ticket, The Christmas Ballet, makes its annual visit with a perfect gift for audience members of all ages. Smuin Ballet’s snow-filled extravaganza boasts everything from ballet, tap, and jazz to a wealth of other dances and music drawn from holiday traditions from around the world.

Called “an ode to holiday mischief” by 7x7 Magazine and “an effervescent bauble” by the San Francisco Chronicle, this enormously popular celebration includes gorgeous traditional ballet danced to Handel, Bach, and familiar carols (the Classical Christmas) along with contemporary pieces set to beloved pop tunes by Louis Armstrong, Harry Connick Jr., and Elvis (the Cool Christmas). This year features two world premieres: Choreographer in Residence Amy Seiwert’s ballet performed to Leonard Bernstein’s sweeping version of “Carol of the Bells,” and Ballet Master Amy London’s cheery.
