I went on this tour today with my husband and we had a fantastic time!! We started out at a winery that offered a menu with about 9 wines to taste. Then we travelled down to a cheese tasting. Afterwards we had an hour and half for lunch (on our own). During this time we ate a quick lunch a the deli and headed across the road to a winery not on the tour but got tastings there anyway! After the lunch break we went to an olive oil tasting and chocolate tasting. We jumped back on the bus and stopped at one more winery and then headed back to the city. During the ride there and back the driver did some narration which was great. LOVED the tour definalty would recommend it to anybody!
This upcoming tour has all the tasty and tantalizing ingredients to a make a great day in the Northern California wine country. You will see and experience taste sensations at every stop starting with a sip of wine and gourmet cheese, followed by more local wine and a lovely picnic. We will also make our way to see and experience the art of making olive oil and how it’s bottled. Oh, and did we mention the chocolate? We will visit a gourmet chocolate factory for some sweet chocolate tasting. *

We’ll waste no time and get right to the wine tasting on your first stop. A well known local family winery, the Mayo Family Vineyards at Glen Ellen: The Mayo Family opened their winery in 1993 and take pride in making small batches of high quality single vineyard wines. They offer a variety of reds, whites, and dessert wines; however, they are well-known for their unique take on Zinfandels, including a Zin port and wine made from 100-year old vines!

Next course is appetizers with a tour and tasting at the local Cheese factory, and learn inside information from cheese maker himself. You will learn about the different styles and flavors of cheeses, and find out which cheese will best complement your favorite wine. There are endless varieties of cheeses to get your taste buds singing and you will have a chance to try them all on this tour. You can also buy some to take home for friends…. *2:00 PM – Private Olive Oil Press Tour and Tasting *
This stop will be at Figone’s Olive Press where one of the Pioneers of the California Olive Oil industry still makes and bottles their gourmet olive oil. This olive press produces many varieties of olive oils from locally grown trees, and all the oils are blended and bottled on-site in the traditional manner of Figone’s Italian heritage.
2:30 PM – Chocolate & Truffle Factory tour and tasting
Did you think Ghirardelli was the only chocolate maker in this area? We will visit a local gourmet chocolate maker in the Sonoma countryside to experience a sweet taste sensation of truffles and observe the way they are made. As fun as it is to watch them being made the real reason to come here is the tasting. If you appreciate fine chocolate, bring your credit card because you’ll be tempted to buy out the store.

Your final stop will take you off the beaten path to another of Sonoma’s hidden gems.
