Country supergroup Rascal Flatts is one of the hottest music acts in any genre, selling more than 22 million albums worldwide and scoring 14 chart-topping singles since their debut in 2000. Known for their crowd-pleasing, high-energy live shows, the trio has produced an incredible string of radio hits over the last decade and a half, including "These Days," "Bless the Broken Road," "What Hurts the Most," "Take Me There" and "Here Comes Goodbye." They're joined by nine-time Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow ("If It Makes You Happy," "All I Wanna Do"), who moved into country territory a few years ago with her album Feels Like Home, plus fresh-faced band Gloriana, best known for their Top 40 country-pop hit "(Kissed You) Good Night." Symphony Parnassus invites you to join them in a celebration of the season with a program that reflects the festive spirit of the holidays.
The concert will begin with Respighi’s Trittico Botticelliano, which pays tribute to a triptych of Botticelli’s most famous works: La Primivera , L’adorazione die Magi (The Adoration of the Magi) and La Nascita di Venere (The Birth of Venus).
Karl Jenkins is reputed to be the most performed living composer in the world and it is easy to see why: his music has immediate, visceral appeal. His magnificent work, In These Stones Horizons Sing, is a celebratory piece, written for a festive occasion. Symphony Parnassus is pleased to be joined for this performance by the captivating Viva la Musica! choir.
San Francisco assistant principal cellist Amos Yang will round out our holiday program as he accompanies us in Dvorak’s masterful Cello Concerto.
