If you are looking for revolution, this is the place to go and get fired up. Even if you are a capitalist pig, Sherry Glaser's characterizations can be both funny and insightful.

More Information About The Breast of Sherry Glaser

Quotes & Highlights

  • "A free-spirited activist, playwright and performer, Glaser is on a mission to use her activism and her art" --San Francisco Chronicle

Description

The Breast of Sherry Glaser opens with Glaser as Miguel De Cervantes (last seen at The Marsh in 2006 in Glaser’s critically acclaimed run of Oh My Goddess!), who calls for a shift in the male archetype and paradigm. He is followed by Mother Superior, an evangelical, spiritual leader who has questions for the Lord and a mandate for a mighty prayer. This section includes audience participation. Finally, SAM SLAM (Super Lesbian Activist Mother) brings the power of “Breasts Not Bombs” (Glaser is co-founder of the notorious anti-war group) to sublime life in a passionate plea to save the world immediately.

Written and performed by Sherry Glaser
Directed by Sheba Love

Sherry Glaser is the author and star of Off-Broadway's longest running one-woman show Family Secrets. Its most recent run was at Theater J in Washington D.C. where it received stellar reviews.  Simon & Schuster published her autobiography based on the play. Her latest stage works include Oh My Goddess! and The Adventures Of Super Activist Mother. Oh My Goddess! played at The Marsh in 2006 to enthusiastic audiences and critical acclaim.

Glaser developed her passion for solo performance while practicing improvisation in the early 1980s in San Diego in the company of Whoopi Goldberg and Kathy Najimy. As much of her life seemed painfully hilarious, she decided to create her first solo show, Coping. In 1989, after moving to L.A. and receiving a contract from Warner Bros. Studio, she explored the world of sitcoms but found live original theater to be a stronger representation of her work. (In other words Hollywood didn’t know what to do with her.) She then went national with Coping, garnering L.A.’s Outer Critic’s Circle Award, South Florida’s Carbonell Award for Best Actress, NY Theater World Award for Best Debut, a Drama Desk Award nomination and L.A.’s Ovation Award.
