Winner of the Pulitzer Prize as well as the Tony Award for Best Play, The Heidi Chronicles is beloved playwright Wendy Wasserstein's masterpiece. This timely play follows humanist art historian Heidi Holland through four decades of social and political change. Never quite fitting in with the times that are a-changing around her, Heidi struggles to keep her identity and moral compass while her friends chase a more compromised dream. Painfully funny and wonderfully insightful, The Heidi Chronicles is a modern classic.

Buried Child: Sam Shepard's Pulitzer-Winning Family Drama

Full Price:
$20.00 - $45.00
Our Price:
$10.00 - $22.50

Set during the rural economic slowdown of the 1970s, playwright Sam Shepard's universally acclaimed Buried Child resonates as strongly today as it did when it launched Shepard's career in 1978. A Pulitzer winner for drama, Buried Child makes for a fierce, forceful and unforgettable portrayal of the realities of the American Dream. The realistic masterpiece mixes comedy and drama, keen commentary and deep emotion in a squalid farm home occupied by a clan filled with suppressed violence, apparent unhappiness and dark secrets. Kenneth Kelleher directs this San Jose Stage Company production. Learn More

The location of the theatre is in a seedy part of SF - not a real draw for
theatre goers.

A great story with plenty of interesting themes and ideas--and some humorous moments--but much of the acting was really aggressive (even for stage acting). It seemed better suited for a large venue, where the audience is much further from the stage.

Also, they sold more tickets than there were seats available. My friend and I were among the last to arrive, and they plopped a folding chair directly in front of a couple who were in the front row (not elevated), expecting me to completely block their view of the stage. When the couple started audibly grumbling, I asked to be moved and they put me on a folding chair in the middle of the aisle.
