I really enjoyed this show especially because I had someone afterwords that had seen it with me whom I could talk to about what's going on and what it all means. Pinter is very different from traditional playwrights so bring your thinking caps and pay close attention. Watch the actors body language and faces for clues as most of the dialogue is defensive towards the other characters and is often concealing things and not honest. Pinter's plays are about people trying to exert power over each other. David Mamet and others owe a debt to him.Written on Apr 17 2009
Tips for the evening: If you're driving, the Mason st. garage (very close) has an advertised price of $15 but if you show them you ticket stubs it's $10, and as you'll surely want to talk after the show just a few doors down on O'Farrell St., Naan and Curry has tasty and cheap Pakistani food. I'm starting to sound like a shill for everything, but I really want you to enjoy your evening and keep intriguing playwrights like Pinter alive in the theater.

The acting was good and the show was fine. I found the play to contain a bit too much shouting for my taste.Written on Jul 22 2009

Description

Harold Pinter's two-act play The Homecoming is concerned with the return of Teddy, a professor of philosophy at an American college, to the North London house occupied by his father, uncle and brothers, all of whom operate on the fringes of working-class society, some distance from respectability. Teddy is accompanied by his wife Ruth, the woman who enters and disrupts their domain, in this comedy of menace.
