The West Coast's hottest klezmer band, the seven-piece Jewish music specialists known as Klez-X, perform live at the SFJCC. Led by violinist and composer Daniel Hoffman, the group's all-original sound is a modern mash-up of jazz, klezmer and Yiddish folk and art songs. After the concert, stick around for a fun and lively dance party in the Pottruck Family Atrium. Klez-X appears in conjunction with the KlezCalifornia Yiddish Culture Festival.

Description

Michael Tilson Thomas calls The Klez-X “extraordinary” for a masterful and imaginative combination of Klezmer music, Yiddish folk and art song and modern jazz that renders a brilliantly original sound. The group boasts an all-star roster of highly versatile and innovative musicians led by violinist and composer Daniel Hoffman, and featuring Sheldon Brown, Jeanette Lewicki, Alan Hall, Richard Saunders, Stephen Saxon and trombonist Charlie Seavey. Join us for a rousing dance party in the JCCSF’s Pottruck Family Atrium following the performance.
