Named one of the top ten plays of 2009 by The Advocate, Daniel Talbott's Slipping is an emotional drama about Eli, a high-school senior, who moves with his mother from California to Iowa after his dad's death. But after being mistreated by his closeted ex in California, Eli struggles with the idea of starting a new relationship with the straight star athlete who's befriended him and now wants to get even closer. New Conservatory Theatre Center is known for its innovative productions centered on theatrical work for youth and the LGBT community, and continues that mission with this show, directed by Andrew Nance. We had friends in town, so picked up extra tickets to the show. It was an amusing evening, including several genuinely touching moments.Written on Jun 10 2010

The show was cute and had Rudnick's trademark quips. Not a great play but fun.Written on Jul 09 2010

Mildly amusing show with several laugh-out-loud lines. One of Rudnick's weaker plays.Written on Jul 08 2010

I thought the first act was entertaining with some great one-liners. The performances were all quite good but I don't feel the 2nd act worked. There was no real reason why the characters should have or could have come together and there really didn't seem any point to it.Written on May 31 2010

Description
The New Century
by Paul Rudnick
directed by George Maguire
From the playwright who brought us The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, Valhalla and I Hate Hamlet comes a rollicking evening of inter-related stories turning gay stereotypes into bullet-deflecting armor and jokes into an inexhaustible supply of ammunition.
