Named one of the top ten plays of 2009 by The Advocate, Daniel Talbott's Slipping is an emotional drama about Eli, a high-school senior, who moves with his mother from California to Iowa after his dad's death. But after being mistreated by his closeted ex in California, Eli struggles with the idea of starting a new relationship with the straight star athlete who's befriended him and now wants to get even closer. New Conservatory Theatre Center is known for its innovative productions centered on theatrical work for youth and the LGBT community, and continues that mission with this show, directed by Andrew Nance. Cute, funny, silly though the story could use some work. David Bicha reminded me of Goldie Hawn.Written on May 26 2011

Very poorly written overall. Lyrics are only occasionally funny. Choreography is mostly inane and overdone. Costumes and set are fine. Actors do what they can, given the material and direction; but their voices really needed miking over the much-too-loud, piped organ music. I would skip this one. Once again, NCTC is up and down in terms of its consistency.Written on May 30 2011

Sadly, the run of "The Stops" has ended. I saw it three time and loved it more each time! Funny, moving, strong performances, "The Stops" had it all!Written on Jun 27 2011
