In this San Francisco premiere, three lady church organists form a singing group called The Stops. On their tour across the U.S., Ginny, Euglena, and Rose come to New Conservatory Theatre Center for a benefit concert for their mentor Dale Meadows, a church music director and songwriter recently fired for his sexuality. Singing songs like The Potluck, It's Raining Amen, A Bossa Nova for Jehovah, Hallelujah Aloha and The Fundamental, gospel music unites these ladies of different faiths.

Cute, funny, silly though the story could use some work. David Bicha reminded me of Goldie Hawn.

Very poorly written overall. Lyrics are only occasionally funny. Choreography is mostly inane and overdone. Costumes and set are fine. Actors do what they can, given the material and direction; but their voices really needed miking over the much-too-loud, piped organ music. I would skip this one. Once again, NCTC is up and down in terms of its consistency.

Sadly, the run of "The Stops" has ended. I saw it three time and loved it more each time! Funny, moving, strong performances, "The Stops" had it all!
