The New Conservatory Theatre Center presents the San Francisco premiere of The Story of My Life, a funny and deeply moving musical about lifelong best friends Alvin and Thomas. As time tests the bonds of their relationship, best-selling author Thomas calls on the only resource he has -- his own stories of Alvin -- to figure out where things went wrong. Nominated for four 2009 Drama Desk awards, including Outstanding Musical, The Story of My Life pays tribute to the power of friendship, the personal cost of success, and the choices we make at the turning points of our lives. Dennis Lickteig directs.

Named one of the top ten plays of 2009 by The Advocate, Daniel Talbott's Slipping is an emotional drama about Eli, a high-school senior, who moves with his mother from California to Iowa after his dad's death. But after being mistreated by his closeted ex in California, Eli struggles with the idea of starting a new relationship with the straight star athlete who's befriended him and now wants to get even closer. A simple two character musical with minimal set design and just keyboard backing but WOW! Really touching story (I and several people around me were in tears) told by wonderful actors. It really is a musical about friendship and it'll make you think about your own friendships. I am already thinking of going again but this time I'll bring more tissues! Truly LOVED it!

Even my second time around, I absolutely loved this production. So simple with a minimal set and only 2 characters but just a wonderful, sweet story of friendship. And I thought I'd be able to get by with fewer tissues than last time but this time I ran out.

In the last 12 months of attending plays and musicals this is by far the best event I have attended. The two man cast and the spare, but wonderful piano only music combine to make a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I would encourage everybody to see this piece before it goes away.
