Liss Fain Dance, San Francisco's own acclaimed contemporary company, premieres the latest in its signature series of performance installations, The Imperfect Is Our Paradise, inspired by William Faulkner's stream-of-consciousness novel The Sound and the Fury. Fain's innovative productions provide a new kind of interactive arts experience, as the audience can choose to either stay seated or move around and check out the set, sound environment and dancers from a variety of different viewpoints. This new work by Fain and composer Dan Wool delves into the evolution of relationships through solo, duo and group dances, while incorporating text from Faulkner's book as part of the rhythmic landscape. I read some of the other comments and was baffled. I thought they really did a good job with everything. I really enjoyed the performance and would hightly recommend it. I'll watch for this on Goldstar again!
Quotes & Highlights
“Solidly abstract dance and, yes, a little glamour.” —SF Gate
The Trap was created from a collaboration between architects, spatial design experts, lighting specialists and dance artists. Chalk, ribbon, string and light create ever-changing rooms that morph in height, width, lightness, and darkness. Within these rooms the dance artists tell stories of the human struggle to conform, and to live with compromise. The Courage Group will also present a duet titled Cold Snap and the popular group piece of last season, Pressed.**
