Freddy Cole Sings the Great American Songbook at the RRazz Room

Full Price:
$40.00
Our Price:

Just in time for Valentine's Day, spend an evening with Lionel Frederick "Freddy" Cole, the youngest brother of Nat "King" Cole. There are certain unmistakable similarities between the brothers' voices and, just like Nat, Freddy plays piano and sings, yet his voice is raspier, smokier and perhaps even jazzier. Freddy Cole is a nonpareil vocal interpreter of the Great American Songbook and a superbly swinging pianist to boot. Head out to the RRazz Room with your sweetheart for a concert to remember. Loved this show - I've waited a long time to see Lee Lessack perform live, and his vocal stylings and audience banter were even more delightful than my collection of his CDs would have led me to believe. And who knew Linda Purl could sing? That was almost as surprising as the amount of plastic surgery her face was showing. The prattle between the two and some of Linda Purl's stage presence (e.g., singing with closed eyes, never making eye or emotional contact with the audience, seemingly concentrated on her notes) seemed a bit stilted, but the show was overall fine and enjoyable. You really can't go wrong with great songs from a genius songwriter and the two performers were obviously happy to give them proper cabaret treatment. A delightful night out on a "school night."

Performers were energetic and the show was well-crafted and rehearsed. I think it is tricky when you have two performers sharing the stage. They were very smooth and shared the limelight equally. The voices go together pretty well, and the choice of music was good - some better known songs, and some not well known.
