After 30 years, it's still amazing to see these objects again. It was disappointing that Tut's sarcophagus wasn't there but His grandmother's was. There are many rooms with related objects and 2 rooms with Tut's objects.

The New de Young is amazing. Very easy access to get in. No lines when we went but there were lots of people in the exhibit.

The presentation of this event was great. I did enjoy the more theatrical approach.

A little small but still full of great stuff. The audio guide is included with the Goldstar tix, which was a nice surprise.

I really enjoyed this exhibit. Also saw it 30 years ago, but felt the emphasis on other family members added to an understanding of the history and culture of the time.

More Information About Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs

Description

Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs is the renowned exhibition that has drawn 6 million visitors worldwide, and counting. Prior to its arrival at San Francisco's de Young Museum, the exhibition was shown to record breaking crowds at the Los Angeles Country Museum of Contemporary Art, the Field Museum in Chicago, the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, The O2 Arena in London, and The Dallas Museum or Art.

Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs explores the figures who guided ancient Egypt more than 3,000 years ago.  The exhibition focuses on the 18th Dynasty, a 100-year period when Egypt was at the height of its power and the "golden age" of Egyptian artistry.  This was the era when Tutankhamun and his ancestors reigned.  The extensive array of more than 130 extraordinary artifacts from the tomb of Tutankhamun and other ancient Egyptian sites features 50 of Tutankhamun's burial objects, including his royal diadem and one of the four gold and precious stone inlaid canopic coffinettes that contained his mummified internal organs.
