Marimba music, ballet-infused folklorico dance, accordion-fueled norteño music and other musical performance styles from Mexico, El Salvador, Chile and beyond come together for Monsignor Romero: A Unity Song. Celebrating the life and foundation of the great Catholic activist Óscar Romero, Brava Theater Center presents such exhilarating Latin performers as Mexican political singer-songwriter Francisco Herrera, Chilean cellist and folk singer Mochi Parra and El Salvadoran dance sensations Ballet Teatro Mauricio Bonilla, performing for the first time in the U.S. from their homeland. Part of the proceeds (25%) go toward helping fund a statue of Monsignor Romero in Rome and advancing the cause of hope, love and unity. Learn More

In this age of over-amplified, overly electronic everything (even children's theater!), it was quite the pleasant evening to enjoy this show that's all about human talent and basic interactions between people. From the new girl who has her eye on the shy guy in the office to the sexy office vixen, to the cute plot behind it all (coming up with the new hot toy for this toy company!), it was charming. Is it over the top Cirque-esque? Nope. Did I walk away smiling broadly? Sure did. :)
