Named one of the top ten plays of 2009 by The Advocate, Daniel Talbott's Slipping is an emotional drama about Eli, a high-school senior, who moves with his mother from California to Iowa after his dad's death. But after being mistreated by his closeted ex in California, Eli struggles with the idea of starting a new relationship with the straight star athlete who's befriended him and now wants to get even closer. New Conservatory Theatre Center is known for its innovative productions centered on theatrical work for youth and the LGBT community, and continues that mission with this show, directed by Andrew Nance. Description
NCTC in association with the University of Chichester, UK is proud to present When it Settles, staring Carrie Whitaker and Louie Jenkins. The show is a benefit for the New Plays Program at NCTC.
When it Settles is composed of two pieces:
Here, Still Here, Still is a dance piece with a narrative texture -- about a woman who has had a history and now finds herself reflecting on it. Whitaker’s acute ability to physically and emotionally manifest an energy that exists only in her memory of it, while the restricted use of the stage adds to the tensions and claustrophobia of this compelling and disturbing dance. Her work has been described as brilliant, beautiful and haunting.
Smoke for Dust is a solo performance. Part truth - part fiction - part fable. “A bookshelf of lies. Tastes metallic. Just. Like. Love” A story of love, loss and Lysol. Performance, European style. The Queen’s English with muscle.
