With its hot-house emotions and lush melodies, this Pulitzer- and Tony Award-winning musical has melted the hearts of audiences for over 60 years. At once a romantic musical and a deeply felt drama, South Pacific tells the story of Americans stationed in an unfamiliar culture in wartime, a situation as relevant today as when it first thrilled audiences in 1949. Timeless themes such as love, prejudice, happiness and cultural differences are tackled with the help of an immortal score, filled with all-time favorites like "Some Enchanted Evening," "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair" and "Bali Ha'i." Wasn't sure what to expect but the voices and dancing of the people on stage was phenomenal! They really captured the time period and what terrific performers they are. I really like the venue as well. Smaller than a lot of other theaters but that made it ever the more intimate.
At the height of the historic Harlem Renaissance, venues like The Cotton Club were jumpin’ to a new beat called “swing.” Ain’t Misbehavin’ is a rollicking, finger-snapping, toe-tapping, Tony Award-winning musical revue — a tribute to the black entertainers of the early 1900s that centers on the music of one of the most prolific musicians of the time, Thomas “Fats” Waller. Ain’t Misbehavin’ is vibrantly told with infectious energy and the cheeky humor for which Waller was known. Ain’t Misbehavin’ features 30 famous, high-energy tunes including the title song, “Honeysuckle Rose,” “Black and Blue” and “The Joint is Jumpin’.”
