If you're looking for outrageous musical comedy, you've just found the Holy Grail. Spamalot is a hilariously over-the-top extravaganza from Monty Python alum Eric Idle that borrows lovingly (and unapologetically) from the film classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In telling the tale of King Arthur and his epic quest with the Knights of the Round Table, this endlessly amusing musical -- which won three Tony Awards including Best Musical during its original Broadway run -- features such outlandish oddities as flying cows, killer rabbits and The Knights Who Say Ni (with some gorgeous showgirls thrown into the mix as well). The musical numbers feature plenty of Python favorites including "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" and "The Song That Goes Like This." Learn More

I had a few minor problems with the play (8000 blessings in that one little book? A dog chewed through a door? in time to save people in a house full of paper?), but I really liked some of the dramatic touches — different characters claiming, "Nothing happened," when ta;king about events that were clearly significant. I REALLY liked the acting.
