If you're looking for outrageous musical comedy, you've just found the Holy Grail. Spamalot is a hilariously over-the-top extravaganza from Monty Python alum Eric Idle that borrows lovingly (and unapologetically) from the film classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In telling the tale of King Arthur and his epic quest with the Knights of the Round Table, this endlessly amusing musical -- which won three Tony Awards including Best Musical during its original Broadway run -- features such outlandish oddities as flying cows, killer rabbits and The Knights Who Say Ni (with some gorgeous showgirls thrown into the mix as well). The musical numbers feature plenty of Python favorites including "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" and "The Song That Goes Like This." Learn More
Make sure you print out your ticket confirmation, so you will be waved through. Otherwise , you will need to stop and have your purchase confirmed. Although I understand the need to "reserve" seats for the lobby volunteers in this general seating theatre, choosing less conspicuous seats would be a better option.Monty Python's Spamalot info • Aug 11 2014 star this tip starred
This special two-show package includes tickets to the following plays:
Aphrodisiac (1/19-2/5, not valid 1/21)
By Rob Handel
Loosely based on actual events, this surprising study of power-politics pits perception against reality as a brother and sister search for the truth about their Congressman father, who has fallen under suspicion of closed-door sexual improprieties – and worse. And then there’s Monica Lewinsky…!
Hamlet (3/15 – 4/1, not valid 3/17)
By William Shakespeare
Hamlet pits the white-hot rebellion of youth against the stale propriety of expectation and tradition. With his father the King of Demark newly dead, and his mother the Queen newly married to his father’s usurping brother, Prince Hamlet is hurtled down a course of murder, discovery, and vengeance that strips him of love, of family, and of his own fragile identity.
