San Jose Rep debuts a new musical that is sure to quickly become a cherished seasonal tradition. This musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's fantastical coming-of-age adventure is an epic quest, powered by an original pop rock score, alluring ballads and urban steampunk flair. The Snow Queen illustrates the power of friendship and love when young Gerda's best friend, Kai, is taken by the Ice Queen, and she embarks on a quest to save her friend, meeting gypsies, enchantresses and crows along the way. One thing is clear: this is no ordinary bedtime story! Learn More

Although it was a little slow for my taste it was an all around great performance. I liked the story (and the plot twists) and the characters were engaging. I was impressed by the stage/set and how they were able to transform the set from one scene to the next with minimal props - very creative!
Adapted for the stage by David Pichette & R. Hamilton Wright
