City Lights Premieres Hilarious, Heartbreaking Spacebar

- Our Price:
- $8.50 - $15.00
From the ceaselessly inventive mind of Michael Mitnick, the celebrated young playwright and screenwriter, comes Spacebar: A Broadway Play by Kyle Sugarman. Who is Kyle Sugarman? Well, he's 16 years old and determined to revolutionize -- or at least scandalize -- Broadway with a very creative, very long play of his own. Although not about the space key (because that would be silly), Spacebar is about a bar in outer space. As his deliberately wacky script plays out, the "real life" of this obscure kid from Fort Collins, Colorado takes equally zany turns. Lisa Mallette directs this world premiere as a part of the 30th anniversary season of the City Lights Theater Company. Learn More

Written on Feb 19 2007Very good comedy. It can trigger your heart and evoke lots of thoughts. Be aware though, the ending is very sad and hope you have prepared a strong heart to see the ending.
Also, the show is running in a warehouse, so it's very cold inside. Be sure to wear coats or some other warm clothing.
Enjoy the show!

Description
Can love survive the cruel pressures of a low-cal, no-carb, salad bar world? Tom feels a magnetic attraction for the bright, witty, plus-sized Helen, but his coworkers are determined to save him from himself. Fat Pig is a brutally comic and painfully honest new play from one of America's most unflinching and confrontational playwrights.
