This is a wonderful play with heart, values and spirit. A terrific story of love, loss and regret between a scientist and a rabbi.

Upon arriving at the theater we were warned of "brief nudity." Suddenly my boyfriend was more excited about being there.... it turned out to be male nudity! hehe :-)

The show itself was thought provoking and entertaining.

San Jose Rep has staged many good performances in the past (such as "Two Pianos Four Hands" or "Foreigner"), but "Splitting Infinity" was not one of them. You may like the play if you are religiously oriented however given the cultural diversity of Silicon Valley, I thought this would not be a proper topic to put on stage.

Description

Splitting Infinity

by Jamie Pachino
directed by Kirsten Brandt

In this smart and witty exploration of faith, science, love, and ambition, Leigh Sangold, a Nobel prize-winning astrophysicist, takes on the definitive scientific challenge: to use physics to prove whether God exists. Leigh’s quest for a renewed sense of self in her life threatens her closest relationships with Saul Lieberman, a tenderhearted Rabbi who’s been in love with her since childhood, and her lover, a competitive post-doctoral student who is the son of a Christian Scientist. Splitting Infinity tests the boundaries of relationships and zealous ambition. It seeks to answer the questions we have about ourselves, each other, and the universe through the scientific and religious equation.
