Paul Smith Trio: Ella Fitzgerald Pianist Plays Classic Jazz
Paul Smith, best known for spending 20 years as Ella Fitzgerald's pianist and conductor, returns to the intimate stage at the Grand Annex for another great night of music. From cool jazz to bebop and swing, this true legend is a master of it all. Before his long collaboration with Fitzgerald, he kicked off his career in the '40s with Les Paul and Tommy Dorsey. He's also recorded with a who's who of classic jazz, including Dizzy Gillespie, Steve Allen, Stan Kenton, Mel Tormé and more. For this performance, he's joined by bassist Richard Simon and drummer Alex Smith.
