Description

The Kanbar Center for the Performing Arts at the Osher Marin JCC continues their 20th Anniversary Summer Nights Season by circling the globe to bring a touch of Brazil to Marin. The third ‘Summer Nights’ concert is ready to celebrate life through dancing, drumming and singing with Sambaguru featuring Katia Moraes.

Sambaguru and Katia Moraes are fused together through their love of Brazilian music – resulting in rich, culturally-charged performances. Katia Moraes is the vibrant, infectious lead vocalist of the group, while the other band members — Kevin Ricard on percussion, Tony Shogren on the drum kit, Hussain Jiffrey on bass, Grecco Burato on guitar, Bill Brendle on keyboards and accordion and Mitchel Long seven on string guitar — bring their own stylistic musical experience of remarkable depth and quality. The ethnic flavors of Sambaguru and Katia Moraes are a Brazilian base with a hint of styles and rhythms from surrounding regions. Their extensive repertoire is carried over to all corners of the world – adding variety to their high-energy electric, up-beat, vibrant performances.
