Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars
Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars Outdoor Concert
Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars bring their inspiring story and irresistible music to a festive outdoor concert under the stars at the Osher Marin JCC. The group met and started playing music together in West African refugee camps after fleeing Sierra Leone's capital Freetown during the nation's decade-long civil war. Their sound is a unique fusion of traditional African music and roots reggae, inflected with New Orleans style. Their story was told in the hit documentary Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars
, which was produced with support from Keith Richards, Paul McCartney and Angelina Jolie. Since their incredible journey, they've released three of the most acclaimed world music albums of the last decade, have recorded and performed live with Aerosmith, and played at Bonnaroo, the Kennedy Center, the Montreal Jazz Festival, Summerstage in New York's Central Park and other top gigs.
