The timeless historical drama Julius Caesar is updated in this modern staging of one of Shakespeare's most admired, consistently performed and adaptable plays. Packed with political treachery and shifting alliances, this historically inspired political tragedy uses nontraditional, gender-switched casting and a contemporary environment to recount the ruptured relationship between Caesar and Brutus, which results in a plot by senators Brutus and Cassius to murder their leader, leading to a civil war. This production, which includes current geo-political themes while using Shakespeare's original language, reveals much about leadership and the evil side of human nature. Learn More

5 stars for the script, 1 star for the directing, and 3 stars because I appreciated the young enthusiasm of the actors. The lead male and female actors were good.

Fifty brides flee their grooms and seek refuge in an Italian Villa in this re-make of the Suppliant by Aeschylus. This highly interpretive dark comedy challenges us to look at our attitudes regarding the social issues of gender, political power and economic inequality that resonate with us all. It is also highly entertaining theatre with murder and assorted mayhem including helicopters, rapelling and an Italian villa complete with an on-stage pool!. This is SACTA’s most ambitious project to date.
