Written on May 23 2012The three leads were clearly very talented actors giving their all. King Arthur, Lancelot, and Guenevere all had wonderful voices and acting chops. Unfortunately, the same can not be said about the supporting cast, direction or crew.
This production was lacking in both direction and choreography. "The Lusty Month of May" was a disaster on all levels, as was the Ensembles rendition of "Guenevere". A complete miss on the part of the director for both numbers, and the person who chose to put these ladies in lingerie for "...May" did not do them any favors. The costuming detracted from the overall experience rather than adding to it. If you are move Camelot into the Kennedy era, then take it out of a castle and put it in the white house.
Finally, it greatly detracts from the theatre going experience when there are multiple black outs in the middle of a large number. Having someone operating the light and sound who know the show is as important as having actors who know their lines.
Truly disappointing that the three talented leads were not given a better backdrop to display their talents.
Written on May 22 2012A good show full of memorable show tunes. Loved vocal performances by Guenevere and King Arthur. It was very emotional at times, especially with Guenevere really living her part. Very nice theater staff.
Written on May 22 2012Loved this show! Particularly enjoyed Guenevere, even cried in the end as she did. King Arthur was also talented. Great singing and acting.
Written on May 21 2012The show was good. We were surprised to see everyone in everyday clothing as opposed to costumes, but it was entertaining.
Written on May 21 2012My husband and I were excited to see Camelot. However, once we arrived we realized that having it set in J.F.Kennedy's era meant they wore normal clothing and not customs. The secondary cast seemed to be high school wannabees. They weren't very convincing. The lead 3 actors had nice voices, but nobody was wearing a mike so sometimes it was kind of hard to hear what they were saying or singing. If you don't have mikes on, everyone in the cast needs to learn to project their voices. My husband and I left at intermission.
Written on May 21 2012This is a very small venue with hardwood bench seating...makes sitting through any performance of more than 1 hour difficult. The lead was great but the supporting cast was poor high school. The interpretation of the sitting during the Kennedy administration was unique and I found it very entertaining. I did expect more and would not attend another event at this venue due to the casting.
Written on May 18 2012Fabulous. Voices wonderful. Scenery amazing. Clever take - doing it in modern dress. Recommend unconditionally.
Written on May 18 2012This production was WONDERFUL!!! Could not believe the quality of the performers in such a small venue. Especially after reading earlier reviews, which were kinda negative, I was literally stuned at the high level of caliber of these actors. Ginny, Lance, and King Arthur were the standouts. Go see this before it goes away!!!
Written on May 14 2012I attended a Saturday show and was VERY impressed with the main actors and actress playing Guineviere, King Aurthur, Lancelot, King Aurthur's sidekick, and the young child at the end.
Written on May 14 2012It was wonderful to again see and hear the noble story and GORGEOUS music of this beautiful musical.
I also so appreciate the unique feeling one gets from small, intimate theater...the genuine LOVE of the performers for what they do is almost palatable! Special commendations to the actors who played King Arthur, Guenevere, and Pellinore.
Written on May 14 2012Six of us attended the Satruday show and really enjoyed it. We would have preferred the Camelot period costuming instead of the Kennedy era, but they were trying to do something creative and unique and it was good for the 1960's. The beautiful girl who played Guenevere was an outstanding actress and singer. King Arthur was also very good. I suggest a light jacket as the theater is cool at times.
Written on May 14 2012this was a great show in a terrific small venue....I hope many will go to support this outstanding effort!
Written on May 14 2012less than high school quality. costumes the worst.
Written on May 14 2012This was a huge disappointment. The cast tried hard enough but the ridiculous costumes and the multitude of costume changes for the female lead were distracting and costumes as a whole were terrible. Several people left before or at intermission. I could not recommend this to anyone and was really disappointed at the bad staging, set design and overall production. If this was to be set in the white house as stated in notes why was the main set in an alleged castle with constant running up the stairway by various actors. The beach scene was bizzare!!!!
Written on May 14 2012We enjoyed the play because of the wonderful show tunes. The 4-5 leads were very good! However, the rest of the cast were fairly amateurish. The shock was seeing the play about King Arthur with the entire cast in modern day clothes!!!
Written on May 14 2012Nice small theater, but seats (church pews) were rather uncomfortable.
Good cast. Lead actors (Arthur and Guinivere) were very good and had beautiful voices.
Written on May 04 2012The lead singers were very good. The sound system was much improved since "Jesus Christ Superstar".
Bench seating is still uncomfortable for a long play. The set did not fit with the Kennedy White House. Imagine 60s fashions worn in King Arthur's castle.
Written on May 01 2012Wonderful group of talented actors!!!!
Written on Apr 30 2012Thoroughly enjoyed Camelot. Great music, interesting story. Highly recommended.
Written on Apr 30 2012Fun production with great, familiar songs. Interesting twist to blend in aspects of the Kennedy era. Strong performances by the three leads, particularly Guinevere with her strong vocal and acting skills.
Written on Apr 30 2012Robert Dudley as Sir Lancelot stole the show! He had a marvelous voice and great acting!
The seats were padded church pews and very uncomfortable, especially for older people.
Written on Apr 30 2012We really enjoyed the production, nice quality in the singing voices too!
Small, intimate setting. Very nice box office personnel.
Written on Apr 30 2012I have been to this venue many times in the past and the shows never fail to totally entertain. They are original in presentation and the actors work hard to please. Was an enjoyable evening.
Written on Apr 24 2012We attended the Saturday night show and really enjoyed it. Duane Thomas who played King Arthur was very good with a great voice and stage presence, but the standout for us was Guenevere played by Daina Baker Bowler(we noticed that the role of Guenevere was double-cast). She not only had excellent vocal and acting abilities but also brought a charm and sophistication to her part that added a great dimension to the performance. Robert Dudley as Lancelot also did a nice job. Overall a very enjoyable evening!
Written on Apr 24 2012The play was very nice. Very intimate theater. I enjoyed the performers and stage set.
Written on Apr 23 2012Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere were good. The staging was confusing. I know that the sets are also being used by Robinhood and Cyrano but the modern costumes and castle setting was a bit jarring. Also not sure about the Playboy bunny showing up but an enjoyable evening. We already have our tickets for Cyrano.
Written on Apr 23 2012Enjoyed learning the story line having sung the memorable melodies since the '60's. Arthur's and Guenevere's roles were well done.
Written on Apr 23 2012It is a good and a well staged show.
The actors are doing a good job.
Small and cozy theater.
Written on Apr 23 2012The theater is really hard to find. It is on the church property across the street from the high school. Uncomfortable pew type seating. Well acted and good singing voices, but rather amateurish. For example, the lights on stage went out completely just as the actors began to sing a big number. The only nod to the Kennedy era was the costuming.
Written on Apr 23 2012The actors gave it their best shots and some were very good (Pellinore especially), but the staging was not inspired and really odd. It was a great idea to set the show in the Kennedy era, but if you're going to do that then, then actually DO that. Clothing alone is not enough. The castle set seemed wildly out of place and swords?.... It could have been an interesting retelling, but 1960's clothes in a castle just seemed off-putting. Also, the music track was far too quiet -- playing the opening Overture at barely audible levels didn't get anyone in the spirit of the show. Some of the lighting cues were clunky as well, holding too long on the actors before going dark. I totally apprecite that a small theater tried to add new life to an old standard, but it may have been overreaching a bit.
Written on Apr 23 2012My friend an I really enjoyed the performance. However, she found the seating uncomfortable for such a long performance. The actors did a wonderful job
Written on Apr 23 2012I was rather confused by this production. The actors displayed a lot of energy, but the connection to the Kennedy era was confusing, and was distracting from the plot. There were pleasant moments when the songs were being performed.

Written on Apr 22 2012I enjoyed this event very much. Very interesting twist with the costumes. All actors and singers were excellent, especially King Arthur. Great small theater venue. Would recommend.
Written on Apr 21 2012We enjoyed the event and appreciated the efforts by all involved.
Arthur was a standout, except those times when he was drowned out by loud music. Lancelot's voice was often times "enchanting," I think he will only improve over time. Guenevere's stage presence was palatable, however her vocals were a hit & miss.
Think not enough time devoted to Arthurs' distress & yearning, Guenevere's final goodbye to Arthur was totally unintelligible. Lancelots' regret for his adulterous betrayal of Arthur not quite conveyed. It was as though the final 20 minutes were rushed, when those 20 minutes may be the most important 20 minutes of the piece.
Having said that, we completely enjoy the intimate nature of the Mysterium and look forward to our next visit.
