Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon is the world's longest-running musical revue. Since 1974, this San Francisco institution has followed Snow White on a musical comedy quest around the world, where she runs into satirically portrayed pop-culture and political celebrities, an impressive array of gigantic hats and one show-stopping musical number after another. Because the show is constantly updated with new costumes, hats and characters, it rewards repeat visits. Among the familiar faces you might see spoofed in Beach Blanket's latest incarnation: Lady Gaga, Barack and Michelle Obama, the cast of Glee, Kate Middleton and Adele. Even after nearly 40 years, Beach Blanket Babylon remains one of San Francisco's wildest evenings of live entertainment. Learn More

Report as inappropriateA somber tragedy done well!! Fine performances, staging and presentation! If you know going in how it ends, it certainly isn't from the actors who play it freshly (like they're supposed to) rushing down the tracks like they're oblivious to the tracks being out ahead.
Report as inappropriateSorry, not my cup of tea. Walked out at intermission. Boring... I had seen the movie years ago and should have known. I love the Empire Theatre group -- but the show was slow, boring and didn't do anything for me...
Report as inappropriateThis was my second ‘outing’ to Theatre Out and thoroughly enjoyed the play. Although I know that Edward II was bisexual, I really don’t think he was that blatant. The new adaptation really pushes the love between him and Gaveston—almost to the point of enough already! The play could have focused on his other relationships more with the queen, niece, his sons, etc. Overall, the venue was nice. The refreshments are inexpensive and the surrounding area is really becoming a vibrant place to eat and see art.
Report as inappropriateEdward II was an engaging look at the intrigue surrounding the monarchy of Edward II, his wife and his lover. The acting was quite good, the translation fitting for the venue and audience and the house was nearly full on the evening I was there.
The show moved well and was well staged. The actors were articulate, poised and in command of the material, the space and the audience.
A nice evening in the theatre.
