Set in New York City's Lower East Side, Jonathan Larson's Rent is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this Broadway hit has become a pop culture phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with power and passion. Based on Puccini's La Bohème, Rent follows a year in the life of a group of penniless young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves and conflicts provides the narrative to this groundbreaking rock musical. Learn More

Loved it. Drove up from San Diego to see this. The last time I saw this play was nearly 30 years ago at Theatre on the Square in San Francisco. I remembered that Susan Sullivan was in the cast. Clearly it had an affect on me, so I wanted to see it again. It still has it. This delightful theatre company is in an unlikely space (in a church) but has the chops to do a great job with this play. It is well acted and well directed...and very much worth seeing, even for a second time. Thoroughly enjoyable evening of theatre. (Spoiler alert: take tissues)
