Kathleen Turner in Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins

Full Price:
$67.00 - $87.00
Our Price:
$34.50 - $44.50

The Geffen Playhouse presents the story of Molly Ivins, the outspoken sharp-witted Texas reporter whose liberal journalism brought her national fame and a job at The New York Times, where she wrote Elvis Presley's obituary. Two-time Tony and Oscar nominee Kathleen Turner plays the fiery redhead, a self-proclaimed "pain in the ass to whatever powers come to be." Though The New York Times had hired Ivins to bring life to its staid writing style, her political edginess and controversial social commentary eventually proved to be too much, and Ivins moved on to Texas papers that embraced her sharp-tongued humor. This acclaimed show captures Ivins' unique character using personal anecdotes and her colorful take on national politics. Learn More

TJ Dawson (artistic director) is a sure bet. His shows are always superlative. This production is first rate and mounted in a beautiful new theater in Santa Ana. The entire cast was skilled, energetic, and engaging. The orchestra was great, as were the lighting and sets. Choreography will blow you away! Piece of advice: Bring a heavy jacket. The theater was freezing beyond belief. If they sell enough tickets, I'm sure they will buy an "off" button for the air conditioner.

About the Ticket Supplier: OC Pavilion

Patrons can see artists in a setting that is reminiscent of days gone by, when the artist's performance wasn't just something to witness, but rather experience.

The OC Pavilion has three levels for entertainment. In the basement is The Vault VIP Lounge, a fantastic place to relax, take in some live jazz and enjoy a cocktail before or after a show; the Theater level, which also features an opulent Mediterranean atmosphere complete with a gorgeous marble bar; and finally, on the second level, the return of world-class fine dining with the decadent Ambrosia Restaurant, which includes the famous Wine Cellar dining room.

Owner, architect and developer Michael Harrah purchased the property in 2001, and over the course of several years has invested more than $21 million in this facility. Formerly, it was a Bank of America Western Regional Headquarters. Mr. Harrah's intricate, detailed design of the Pavilion has made it the most remarkable venue in Southern California. He took the Pavilion to a level of opulence, beauty and sheer star power by making certain that absolutely everything was the best. Maintaining those very high standards, Mr. Harrah has assembled a crew of extraordinarily talented individuals.
