Recognizing the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Highways presents a reprise of J.M. Morris' collection of multimedia performance pieces, exploring the wide-ranging aftereffects of that tragic day. Legendary filmmaker Charles Burnett (To Sleep with Anger; Selma, Lord, Selma) returns to direct Repeat, the story of a female Iraq War veteran, starring Joyce Liu (Funny People) and Red Glare, featuring Iraqi-American actress Reem Kadem (Hawthorne, Veronica Mars). Acclaimed singer-actress Erica Gimpel (Fame) closes the show with songs from her CD Spread Your Wings and Fly. A dessert reception follows the performance, which is a benefit for Highways.

Description

This special one-night benefit for Highways is in recognition of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Writer-producer J.M. Morris returns with a special presentation of her collection of work, 9/11: Perspectives & Pretensions, that debuted at Highways in September 2007.

For this one evening of performance with multimedia elements, Morris stages select pieces from the original presentation that reflect her signature serious to satirical take on the effects of 9/11’s aftermath on various individuals and institutions.
