The theater is an intimate little space. They made good use of it, although acoustically the instruments, especially the drums, were too loud for the vocals. The plot was bizarre and didn't make too much sense. The only reason why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is because Father Christmas, Honey, and Mike Gray were fantastic singers and actors. Unfortunately, the lead was not as strong, which made me not enjoy this musical as much because he was virtually in every scene. I wish the play was shorter--and that's not a sign of a good production.Written on Nov 21 2009

It's a bit hard to describe what it is about. It does become a bit clearer at the end. The actors were good but the story is strange.Written on Nov 16 2009

It was a charming, comedic musical that somewhat resembled the Wizard of Oz concept. The music itself was of a wide variety, including ballads and a barbershop quartette. It had me laughing as well as feeling sympathy for the characters. I recommend it for both theatre-goers and non-theatre-goers alike. It has a little bit of something for everyone.Written on Nov 17 2009

“I was at the first reading for the script, three years ago.” Producer Evan Drane said, “and I participated in awe at what was before me: characters I had never before seen, traveling in a world I didn’t know could exist. This show has a playful nihilism, bucking several musical conventions, while retaining a peculiar - and very funny - joie de vivre. Diehard fans and newcomers alike will love this musical.”
This Halloween, sink into the world of a New Orleans-style ghost story musical, a tall tale full of highballs and oddballs, hobgoblins and hemoglobin. Our protagonist, the eponymous Beau Fib, embarks on a quest to find out why he wore his good shoes, something he'd never do without a special occasion. On his journey, he joins forces a heartbroken soldier, a derelict priest, and an acid-tongued stripper. As they reel from danger and stagger into peril, their quest story unfolds through musical influences that range from Tom Lehrer to Tom Waits, Kurt Weill to barbershop quartet, with lots of surprises, monsters, and smutty talk along the way. The humor is dark, the characters are twisted, the whole thing stinks of booze-- it's like no musical you've ever been to before.
