This is a dance event at a very intimate space for seeing dance. The Highways space in Santa Moncia seats about 50, and there are just three rows surrounding the floor stage--so you see everything from 15 -20 feet away. I would recommend people try to see events at the Highways Space.Written on Jan 17 2011
This was two short dances. They were intriguing and always interesting, but they were not fantastic. the first was just two women, and the second was just one woman--obviously not a lot of pas de deux kind of things. Sometimes no music, so just movement. They were good pieces. but also know that the entire program is about an hour--so it is fine for the Goldstar price. You might not like it paying full price for a short evening. This is second dance program I have seen through Goldstar at this venue, and I would definitely, absolutely go again.

Description
Nails, hair, and nerve grow amok in Sam Kim's Cult. Two unnaturally extended and uncontrollable bodies rob what they need from the other, creating an incestuous loop. Cult opens the portal to hyper-communion, and takes a long, hard stare at the perverse and unseemly rituals of transfiguration that ensue.
In creed, Sandercock responds to dancing Cult, using the mechanics of 19th-century spirtualism - contact, possession, manifestation - as choreographic strategy to explore fundamental questions of belief, reality, fantasy, friendship, presence and absence.
