This new satirical fantasy finds characters from Russian author Mikhail Bulgakov's savage satire on Stalinist Russia, The Master and Margarita, paying an eerie midnight visit to their creator. A famed playwright in 1920s Moscow frustrated by state censorship, Bulgakov has his bio-play on Moliére banned by the authorities, and Satan and his entourage have escaped from the pages of his novel to perform the work themselves. Dubbed The Cabal of Hypocrites, the play-within-a-play skewers both Stalin's Soviet Union and today's vicious partisan politics, as well as the culture of celebrity. City Garage stages this world premiere adaptation of Bulgakov's Moliere by Charles A. Duncombe. Learn More

The best interpretation of Bulgakov novel both in and outside of Russia, and I must have seen them all. Very close in spirit and ideas. It is very advisable to read the novel beforehand. A brilliant work by the whole cast and superb acting.
