The frighteningly talented Rob Zombie, the singer-songwriter, musician and film director who's turned his obsession with the horror genre into movie and music gold, returns to his rock-show roots on his latest tour, complete with his signature pyrotechnics and mind-blowing SFX. A seven-time Grammy nominee, the rocker's fifth solo album, the intriguingly titled Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, spinning off a pair of successful singles, "Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Super Town," and a cover of "We're an American Band." Meanwhile, Zombie's had phenomenal success as the writer-director of six highly grossing horror films. But there's nothing like experiencing this artist's singular vision and sound live on stage. I saw Los Lonely Boys at KFOG's Kaboom and was not impressed. However, it was the venue and not the product. In a small setting like The Mountain Winery the performers really connect with the audience and they had the place rocking. There were very few moments when the crowd wasn't on their feet enjoying the music. They played until 10:11 concluding with "How Far is Heaven"; at that time my wife and I left because the 'rule' is no music after 10PM. On our walk to the parking lot they came back out for an encore which we missed...so much for that 10PM rule.
Los Lonely Boys bring their Acoustic Brotherhood Tour to Mountain Winery for a night of Latin rock. The Texas-based Los Lonely Boys are a Tex-Mex rock group consisting of three brothers. The Grammy-winning band is best known for the monster hit, “Heaven.” Appearing with Los Lonely Boys are Grammy-nominated blues-rockers, The Fabulous Thunderbirds.
