Maya -- The Mystery of Krishna: A Solo Dance by Rasika Kumar
The Abhinaya Dance Company, San Jose's premier South Indian performance troupe, turns the solo spotlight on its principal dancer Rasika Kumar, with live musical accompaniment by guest flautist G.S. Rajan and the Abhinaya orchestra. In this evocative dance theater piece, Kumar explores the mystery of Krishna through several vignettes from his life, presented in the traditional style of movement known as Bharatanatyam. Rajan also composed the score, which features accomplished Bay Area musicians on vocals, violin and the mridangam drum.
