The Tony Award-winning musical by Bob Martin with music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison finds a grumpy narrator called Man in Chair putting the LP of his favorite musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, on his record player to chase his blues away. He then watches the entire cheesy 1920s-era show unfold in his apartment. The show features a pampered Broadway starlet who wants to give up show business to get married, her producer who sets out to sabotage the nuptials, her chaperone, a debonair groom, a dizzy chorine, a Latin lover and a couple of gangsters. Featuring such songs as "Fancy Dress", "As We Stumble Along" and "Show Off," The Drowsy Chaperone won the 2006 Tony Awards for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score.

This was an extraordinary performance by the actors, director, stage hands and musicians. The production values were superb. I especially liked the dance number; it was fantastic. It was a delightful evening of great entertainment. And the narrator was amusing and kept the story on its toes. Please by all means go see this musical for a great evening of merriment and joy.

The show is pretty good. The narrator is very good and and the contemporary jokes are OK, albeit a bit offensive to me. Other main characters are pretty good and others are - well - not so good. The orchestra is obnoxiously in-the-way and too loud; you cannot hear the actors when the orchestra is in full swing.
