Since there were no reviews for this Geocaching event, we didn’t know what to expect. The event was our first “Geocaching” adventure; we had a great time due to our guide Mike. He was very personable and a knowledgeable guide. First word of advice - be ready to hike several miles! I think we hiked a total of about 6 miles (possibly more).
Be sure to wear long pants (to cover your legs) since there are poison ivy and such all along the path, wear tennis shoes (the trail is muddy in some spots) and have on bug repellent. Also, it may be good to bring a backpack with ice-cold water and snacks (they have (mildly cold) water and snacks that you can buy but come prepared, it will save you some money).
The event does last for the 3 hours (lots of walking)! You will be in the woods hiking on a trail with a GPS device with coordinates looking for “hidden caches”. We enjoyed this as first-timers but I think that we can check this off our list as having “been there, done it”. I would recommend this event to parents with kids, we had our 9 year old son with us and fortunately there was a 10 year old in our group of 6 and they had a great time. For me as a parent, I enjoyed just being outdoors (in the nice weather) and enjoyed the interesting facts that Mike guided us through.
Before we went to this event, I called Terrapin Adventures directly to confirm our tour and asked for information but was not given much “useful” detail. I rated this event as “Liked It” but I would have rated it higher had I gotten more information about the event and had been more prepared so hopefully this helps!
Eeeeeek, My hubby ended up getting poison ivy/oak... :(
